Poems
Too many times
Too many times we dont know what we have until its gone,
Too many times the gift of day passes with a dream forgone,
To many time we hold the past to close to the present day,
To many times days pass by with things we forgot to say.
Stay Open To Love
Stay open to love
As does the flower to the bee
Always opening to the sun
In hope love will find the
Never give up hope
Else like a flower youll die inside
Always stay open to love
Then at least you can say you tried
The Silence Speaks a Truth
Across the room I look at you
I know how you feel
The silence speaks a truth
That word would conceal
Five hundred thousand words to choose from
You could use to explain
But the truth needs just silence
To speak whats on you brain
Conforming
Why should I conform with modern society
When I feel that by doing so Id be acting cowardly
Why do I struggle to feel contentment and freedom
When I live in a society that represents freedom of expression
Why should I follow the most travelled path
And gain the knowledge that many already hath
Why cant I risk going where danger lies
And hope that if I get to the end Ill end up wise
Why should I get married and bring up children
When Id end up feeling my husbands a burden
Why should I have a relationship based on complicity
When I crave relationships that are filled with passion and intensity
When I fall in love why should I keep my partner caged
To make me feel safe and make my feelings assuaged
Why cant I let them live and fly free
And be content with the knowledge their loves always with me
Innocence
We were all born into this world utterly innocent
Although we have no history this moment in abundant
We are unknown and untouched in this state of purity
With no history comes no sorrow and no feeling of animosity
We travel through the journey of life learning many lessons
Many from the mistakes we make and others from our observations
We develop our understanding on whats perceived as right and wrong
And we take on this ideology as we travel along
So our identity is not developed solely by ones self
We learn how to adapt in society in a way to preserve our health
Therefore if were not careful the person we could turn out to be
Can actually be developed by others almost like a commodity
But no matter what societies influences do
And no matter what we choose to put ourselves through
There is always that part we hold on tightly to
The innocence in us we dont want to lose
Living In A Bubble
We could go about are life working nine till five
And never take any risks, as our only aim is to survive
We could wake up every day knowing what were to do
And go to bed at ten o clock because its what we do
We could live in a safety bubble floating around
And never pop that bubble for fear of falling down
We could carry on our routine doing what we know
And everyone would be smiling because it suits them so
But however would we learn living in that bubble
Never taking any risks encase they cause us trouble
We have to get things wrong every now and again
As we wouldnt try that hard if we always got ten out of ten
Every mistake we make in life we will never forget
And after all the lessons learnt it will be a mistake not to regret
People are always going to knock people every time they fail
But sadly those people are those that will never break out their shell
Unconventionl Love
You talked, you felt your caressed you held
For how long it would last the future was untold
The days were so short and the nights were so long
The time shared together you felt you belonged
A love affair that was so unconventional
Whether it was right or wrongs debatable
An affair like all thats ended in tears
Where from the start the end was near
Two people left bitter towards one another
Wondering how long it will take to recover
A relationship that started based on passion and lust
And now those two factors have caused the mistrust
Not possible to be lovers, not possible to be friends
So any form of relationship is now at the end
Now both will go there separate ways
The Journey Together
The journey of Life
Travelled together
When love is rife
You go on forever
Through the ups and downs
You support each other
When one starts to drown
The other recovers
When one strays too far
For the others hand to touch
You break down the bars
For your loves worth too much
When one gets ill
The other feels their pain
No matter how steep the hill
They go on in vain
Whats Right and Whats Wrong
From childhood were taught whats right and wrong
These morals we interpret as we move along
What we once saw as black and white
Seems to have changed more grey in our sight
We see others leading a different way of life
We presume its wrong and our fears are rife
But our intelligence makes us see the bigger picture
And we begin to learn what suits ourselves might not another
We start not to fear what we dont understand
And realise we hold only our own future in our hands
Oh To Be Loved
He wants to be the centre of attention and adored
He hates not to be liked, in his nightmares hes ignored
He sleeps around with many girls to increase his self worth
Without them hed wonder what his meaning is on this earth
Oh to be loved, I want to be adored
All eyes on me, I dont want to feel ignored
If a negative remark was ever made towards him
Hed dwell on it for hours but in public hed just grin
To him life is just one enormous competition
The loser hides away and the winner gets recognition
Oh to be loved, I want to be adored
All eyes on me, I dont want to feel ignored
Hes never look at what it is that really makes him happy
Does public recognition mean more then friends and family?
He needs to learn a way to fall in love with him self
Only then deep in side will his heart will be in good health
Oh to be loved, I want to be adored
All eyes on me, I dont want to feel ignored
One day I pray he finds what really makes him smile
Then his eyes will open up to see further down the Nile
Hell see that many things can bring him the feeling of fulfilment
Then the love of just one special person will make him feel content
Oh to be loved, I want to be adored
All eyes on me, I dont want to feel ignored
Slow Down and Look
You want to be everything your not
You strive to succeed and get to the top
You envy others who are higher up
You do every thing you can to catch them up
You reach a point you were aiming for
Now that your there the points moved on more
You rush and you run for all that point means
The faster you run the further it seems
Youre tiring yourself in your rush to get there
Even though you know when your there you wont really care
Youll set your aim even higher up
Youll go through the same process without giving up
But when will you stop or slow down at least
For life is so short you may feel youve been fleeced
Take a step back and look at what else life offers
Stop lowering your esteem by comparing yourself with others
Cherish all that you have and be incredibly grateful
Happiness doesnt only lie in being successful
So in your rush through life to gain recognition and succeed
Remember the difference between what you want and what you need
Gentleman, Your Excused For Being Confused
Just how exactly are you supposed to treat a female?
Feminism arrived and they wanted to be equal
They wanted your work and they wanted your pay
They wanted you to listen to all they had to say
Once you thought that you were supposed to protect them
Now their ladette behaviour you wouldnt condemn
Theyve taken over the pub that was once your territory
And theyre downing their pints and behaving obscurely
They wear little to show off the new boob job they had done
Then call you a perv for looking at their giant bosom
These women you thought you had to treat so preciously
Now behave in a way they dont need it surly
You once felt it rude to swear in front of a female
Now the language they use you even find foul
You used to protect them by walking on the roadside of the pavement
Now they dont understand the gesture you so kindly lent
Once gentlemanliness had to be proved on many dates
Now so many happily offer you themselves on a plate
You cant understand what they actually want
Even though their behaviour is so upfront
Gentlemen, youre excused from being confused
A Question of Morals
A question of morals a question of reason
Should they have done it, is it an act of treason
Who do we listen to, who tells us the rules?
What are the boundaries other then whats illegal or cruel?
If one chooses to opt out of cults and religions
Whos to tell us whats allowed or forbidden
If every country has different laws and principles
How do we work out whats truly ethical?
Nobody I know can answer my questions
Away from religion or any other convention
So Ill keep on wondering what should and shouldnt be done
And until I get some answers Ill continue having fun
Your Fall From the Pedestal
You were picked up from the floor and put on a pedestal
Suddenly everyone wanted to be your friend
No one thought there was a chance you might fall
And all your dreams would come crashing to an end
Emotions high whilst in the sky
A natural buzz a natural high
No fear that you might ever cry
No fear youd fall before you die
One little knock that made you wobble
One big shove that made you topple
Now anothers took your place
Now no one even knows your face
Now to get that buzz that you once felt
You have every vice under your belt
For drinks and drugs may pick you up
But theyll never lift you all the way back up
